Mildred Roeske

Wellsville, NY - Mildred Roeske, age 95, of 100 Merriam Heights passed away on Tuesday February 10, 2015 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She was born on July 15, 1919 in Wellsville to Floyd and Addie Finch Miller. On October 8, 1937 in Jasper she married Raymond Roeske who predeceased her on March 8, 1974.

Mildred had worked for the Wellsville Central Schools in the cafeteria. She also volunteered her time with the Allegany County Association of the Blind, Jones Memorial and at the Community Center. Mildred spent the last years of her life enjoying a community of friends at 100 Merriam Heights. Best known for her crocheting of afghans, she was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing her baked goods with family and friends. Mildred had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wellsville and several other community groups.

Mildred is survived by her two sons, Conrad (Dorothy) Roeske of Gloucester, MA and Kevin (Sandy) Roeske of Cattaraugus. She is also survived by a granddaughter Kelly (Dr. Anthony) Chieffalo of Pomfret, CT; and grandsons Brett Roeske of Gloucester, MA; John (Lindsey) Roeske of Norwich, CT; Robert (Amanda) Roeske of Cambridge; several great grandchildren; her sister Edith Miller of Wellsville and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband Mildred was predeceased by 3 brothers Earl, Lawrence and Raymond Miller and her 2 sisters Pauline Mourhess and Bernice Metzgar.

Friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service on Monday February 23 at 11 am in the Woodlawn Cemetery on South Main Street in Wellsville. The reverend Greg DeSalvator will preside over the service and memorials in Mildred's name may be given to the David A. Howe Library.
