James E. Ketchner

Wellsville, NY - James E. Ketchner, age 85, of South Broad Street passed away at home on Thursday, July 4, 2013. He was born on October 13, 1927 in Wellsville to Roland and Carmela Byrnes Ketchner. On May 4, 1947 in Wellsville he married Beverly Gardner who predeceased him on May 9, 2001. 

Jim was a lifelong resident of Wellsville who retired from Dresser Rand as the Welding Shop Foreman after working there forty plus years. He was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Church, a life member of the Genesee Hose Company and had been a member of the Moose Lodge 

 Jim enjoyed camping with his family and after retirement he liked to travel with his wife. He lived in his home for 60 years and along with many of neighbors enjoyed sitting on their front porches watching the neighborhood. Jim will be remembered as very much a family man.

Survivors include: 2 sons, Robert (Maunie) Ketchner of Olean and Michael (Rosanne) Ketchner of Olean; a daughter, Dawn Ketchner of Wellsville; 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; a brother, William Ketchner of Scio as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by 2 brothers, John and Richard Ketchner

Friends are invited to call on Sunday, July 7, from 2 to 5 pm in the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. On Monday a prayer service will be held at 10:30 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 am in the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery and in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either the Hart Comfort House or to the Immaculate Conception Church Capital Improvement Fund.
