Patricia "Pat" (Piper) Gleason


Patricia "Pat" (Piper) Gleason of Crossville, TN, formerly of Wellsville, NY, passed away on April 13, 2012 at Vanderbilt Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born on March 8, 1943 to Howard and Althea Dyson Piper in Philadelphia, PA. She married Daniel Gleason on September 6, 1962 in Olean, NY. After attending Alfred State University and becoming a New York State-certified substance abuse counselor, she served as director of counseling at Allegany County Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse (ACASA) and later at Employee Services, Inc. Pat loved animals and enjoyed horticulture and bird watching. She was an accomplished knitter and quilter who won numerous craft accolades.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Gleason, her son, Lance Gleason, her daughter-in-law Marlene Jaeckel, her brother Christopher Piper, her sister Sandra (Charles) Baker, her son-in-law Steven Frungillo, her grandchildren Amanda (Brian) Preston and Steven Frungillo, and her great-grandchildren Collin and Ben Preston. She is also survived by her brother-in-law William (Beverly) Gleason, her sister-in-law Jane (Daniel) Hartman, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Melinda Frungillo.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday, April 19, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. Patricia's Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11 am in the First Congregational Church with Rev. Ralph Eastlack presiding.
