Dennis L. Winship

Wellsville, NY - Dennis L. Winship, 63, of 3186 Route 417 died on Monday, January 9, 2012 at home. He was born March 13, 1948 in Wellsville the son of the late George R. and Viola (Chapel) Winship. He was a 1967 graduate of Wellsville High School, received an Associate Degree from Alfred State College, a Bachelor of Science Degree from the State University of New York at Potsdam and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Alfred University.

Dennis was formerly employed Jones Memorial Hospital, Harris Supply Company, the Wellsville County Club and Kerton's Florist & Greenhouse.

He is survived by three brothers, Caryl Winship of Olean, Martin Winship of Allegany and Roger Winship of Ogdensburg, two sisters, Georgia Winship of Little Genesee and Roberta Hall of Nottingham, PA as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

At Dennis's request there will be no visitation or funeral. Memorial donations may be made to the David A. Howe Public Library. To leave online condolences, please visit www.embserfuneralhome.com.

    So sorry to learn of Dennis' passing. I knew him in high school, he worked at my parents' restaurant in Wellsville (Brunswick Coffee Shop) and he was an usher at my wedding. I have many fond memories of time spent with Dennis.

      Thank you Nancy, I guess that Dennis had his own "demons" to face and deal with. It's just a shame, that he apparently, felt as though, he couldn't turn to his friends and family. He was always a very private person,and didn't share much, even to his family. I could always count on him, when I needed an honest opinion. I loved him and I'm going to miss him.
