Mariam A. Butler

Wellsville, NY - Mariam A. Butler, 91, a former resident of 32 Crowner Avenue passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Highland Healthcare Center in Wellsville. She was born February 7, 1920 in Westfield, NY the daughter of the late Vernon and Beulah (Teemley) Harmon. On November 11, 1940 in Olean she married Jack Butler who predeceased her on January 3, 1985.

Mariam was formerly employed at Bausch & Lomb Inc. in Wellsville from 1948 until it closed in 1954, Glen L. Smith Inc. in Wellsville from 1955 until it closed in 1957 and Capital Plastics Inc., which later became Rochester Button Inc. in Wellsville from 1964 until they closed in 1977.

She is survived by a daughter, Diane (Jim) Daly of Clarence Center and Fort Myers, FL, five grandchildren, Patrick (Lisa) Daly of Lockport, NY, Kathleen (Todd) Molyneux of Missouri City, TX Michael (Christy) Daly of Sanford, NC, Kimberly (Benny) Lynch and Karen Dates both of Raleigh, NC, eight great-grandchildren, Tyler and Meredith Daly, Alexa, Sean, Kelcey and Connor Molyneux and Alexandra Daly, a sister-in-law, Violet Butler of Olean as well as several nephews and one niece. She was predeceased by a daughter, Joanne E. Dates in October of 2001, her step-father, Ralph Freeman and a cousin, Evelyn Button.

Friends are invited to a memorial service on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 11:30 am at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville with Monsignor Vincent Becker presiding. MaryEllen R. Gould Perry

Wellsville, NY - MaryEllen R. Gould Perry, 91, a former resident of Riverview Heights, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She was born November 30, 1919 in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Henry and Mildred (Rushmore) Reuning. In February of 1943 she married C. Raymond Gould who predeceased her in 1956, and in October of 1971 she married Regal Perry who predeceased her in 1999.

MaryEllen was a graduate of Wellsville High School. She was formerly employed at Reuning's Bakery, Worthington Corporation, Empire Gas and retired from National Fuel in 1981. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and caring for family and friends in their time of need. She was an avid card player and learned to play the organ later in life. She especially enjoyed Big Band music and was thrilled to have met Frank Sinatra.

She is survived by two sons, Craig (Pamela) Gould of Saratoga Springs, NY and James (Cherese) Gould of Wellsville; four grandchildren, Jenna (Matthew) Nafus of Glenville, NY, Kimberly Gould of Washington, DC, Alison (Paul) Chaffee of Douglasville, GA and Ashley (James) Edmonston of Belington, WV; two great-grandchildren, Maxum John Nafus and Emma Elaine Chaffee; three step-children, James Perry, Sally Roberts and Judy Gibbons and their families; one brother, Bruce Reuning of Wellsville, a sister-in-law, Louella Reuning of Wellsville, as well as a niece, several nephews and cousins, notably Barbara Raines of Wellsville. She was predeceased by her step-mother, Ethel Reuning, a brother, Henry "Jack" Reuning, a sister, Roberta Rugaber, a brother-in-law, Ralph Rugaber, a sister-in-law, Virginia Reuning, a nephew, James Reuning and her mother-in-law, Ethel Gould.

Norma "June" Angood

Wellsville, NY - Norma "June" Angood, 81, of 689 Trapping Brook Road passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born at home on June 1, 1929 in Coudersport, PA the daughter of Josiah C. and Ethel A. (Jacobs) Franke. On April 10, 1948 in Coudersport, PA she married Robert Angood who predeceased her on September 7, 1998.

June was a former resident of Coudersport, Andover and Scio. She was formerly employed as a waitress for Mackie's, The Black Forest and for the Texas Hot all in Coudersport. She was also a nurse's aid for 17 years at the former Potter County Memorial Hospital. June was a charter member of the Coudersport Firemen's Auxiliary. She was an avid bingo player who enjoyed playing at many locations in both New York and Pennsylvania. She was a very independent person who loved her children, grandchildren, cooking and family picnics.

Survivors include: a son Dale (Penny) Angood of Wellsville; 4 daughters, Lynda Lanterman and her fiancé Randall Taylor of Jamestown, Robin (Calvin) Morrison of Wellsville, Cindy (John Case) Hinkle of Wellsville and Tammy (Paul) Starr of Baldwinsville; 7 grandchildren, Michelle (Brant) Monroe, Ashley and Christopher Morrison, Brandan Hinkle, Jessica, Nicholas and Aaron Starr; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Leigh Angood and a brother Norman Franke.

Doris M. Robbins

Wellsville, NY - Doris M. Robbins, 85, of 3875 Fords Brook North Branch Road passed away at home on Saturday, April 9, 2011 following a brief illness. She was born June 2, 1925 in Angelica. On June 2, 1956 in the Town of Willing she married Lloyd R. Robbins who predeceased her on March 18, 2005.

Doris was formerly employed at Bausch & Lomb in Wellsville and the Olean Tile Company. She later assisted her husband in operating his excavating business and was well known for her pies.

She is survived by two daughters, Connie (Jim) Moser of Canisteo and Debra (Edward) Ericksen of Jacksonville, NC, six grandchildren, David (Trish) Goodwin of Arkport, Diane Goodwin of Hornell, Daniel (Michelle) of Fort Myers, FL, Jennifer (Travis) Middaugh of Scio, Ryan Ericksen of Jacksonville, NC and Christopher (Aubrie) Ericksen of Wilmington, NC, eight great-grandchildren, with another due in August, as well as…She was predeceased by her mother, Gertrude Saxton and a brother, Kenneth Hill.

Ruth Eva Cicirello

Wellsville, NY - Ruth Eva Cicirello, 92, of 147 Stevens Street passed away at home on Friday, April 8, 2011. She was born September 2, 1918 in Galeton, PA the daughter of the late Truman and Dora Mae (Lowe) Mathern. On February 2, 1935 in Alfred she married Anthony (Boots) Cicirello who predeceased on March 31, 1975.

Ruth was the dispatcher for the Allegany County Rescue Squad from 1960 until they merged with the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps in 1970. She was the dispatcher for the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps from 1970 until the time of her death. She also operated Boot's Tackle and Candy Shop until 1984.

She is survived by one son, James (Sue) Cicirello, a daughter-in-law, Judy Cicirello, a sister-in-law, Corrine Mathern all of Wellsville, four grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-grandson and a dear friend, Kathy Nash of Wellsville. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Lewis Cicirello and a brother, James Mathern.

Luella L. Lananger

Wellsville, NY - Luella L. Lananger, 80, of 1728 Covel Road passed away at home on Monday, April 4, 2011 following a brief illness. She was born January 19, 1931 in the Town of Willing, the daughter of the late Lewis and Mildred (Buchholz) Fanton. She was predeceased by her first husband, Jack Cramer and on September 14, 1991 in Wellsville she married Charles I. Lananger who survives.

Luella was formerly employed by the Modern Laundry, Rosser's Laundry, Mapes Woodworking for 28 years and Argentieri Brothers Inc. all of Wellsville. She was currently employed by the Stannards Cemetery Association. She was an honorary member of the Willing Hose Company # 1, a life member of the Morrison-Hayes American Legion Post 702 Auxiliary, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and a member of the Stannards United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, crocheting, and sewing and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Brenda (Ray) Dennis of Wellsville, Ruth (George) Hoffman of Rochester, four stepchildren, David (Sue) Lananger of Cuba, Eric Lananger of Hornell, Joyce (Brian) Douglas of Little Genesee and Charles (Melissa) Lananger of Richburg, 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, one brother, Robert Fanton of Newport News, VA, one sister, Anna Brown of Wellsville, a brother-in-law, Bud (Marion) Cramer of Casa Grande, AZ, two sister-in-laws, Barbara Cramer of Camden, SC and Beatrice Cramer of Wellsville as well as several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Ralph "Bucky" Fanton and a sister, Pauline Fanton.

Mildred P. Burdge

Wellsville, NY - Mildred P. Burdge, a long time resident of Pine Street, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at the Wellsville Manor Care Center after a lengthy illness. She was born on May 22, 1922, the oldest daughter of Reynold and Bertha Conable, in Coudersport, Pennsylvania. She married Raymond R. Burdge on December 23, 1941who predeceased her on November 22, 1976.

She graduated from Genesee High School in 1940.After marriage, Mrs. Burdge lived most of her life at 68 Pine Street, the same house where she brought her first son home from the hospital and raised her family. She had worked for Ed Frederick at his store cooking and baking. Even though she never drove, she loved to travel to visit friends and family as much as possible. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed needlework (including embroidery and quilting) and was an avid reader. She will be lovingly remembered for her gentle sprit and good humor. The family is grateful to the staff of Wellsville Manor Care Center for their compassionate and outstanding care.

Survivors include: 3 daughters, Rebecca Anthony of Lakeland, FL., Diana (Curtis) Allen of Andover and Linda (Kenneth) Stanzel of Rochester; a son, Terry (Betty) Burdge of Rochester; 2 grandchildren, Teri Stanton and Cory Burdge; 10 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Betty Calder of Ocala, FL., Ruth (Bill) Tressler of Apollo, PA., and Rita Conable of Twin Falls, ID., and several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Besides her husband she was predeceased by: A son Larry R. Burdge, a brother Richard, a sister Bess Cowburn and a dear friend Lee Russell of Hammondsport.

M. Marie O'Keefe

Batavia, NY - M. Marie O'Keefe of State Street passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the F. F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. She was born in West Union to Bernard and Vivian Steadman O'Keefe.

Marie was former resident of Wellsville and South Alabama moving to Batavia in 1979 and was the office manager for Tyler Truck Line in Oakfield. She graduated from the immaculate Conception School in Wellsville, Wellsville High School and from Medaille College in Buffalo. Marie's life was her family and her faith. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as a faithful parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Batavia. She had been a member of the Oakfield Alabama Grange and served as the Matron for their Junior Grange.

Survivors include: 3 sons, Tommy (Sandy) Emerson of Oklahoma, Dennis Emerson of the Philippines' and Jamie Emerson of Batavia; 3 daughters, Patty Caleb of Medina, Anne Marie (Mike) Culliton of Batavia and Kathryn (Pat) Keenan of Farmington; 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; a brother Dennis O'Keefe of Andover and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Ann Storm and a granddaughter, melissa Emerson.
