Valerio J. "Larry" Lauzze

Wellsville, NY - Valerio J. "Larry" Lauzze formerly of East State Street passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2011, at the Jones Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 7, 1918 in Wellsville to Joseph and Philomina Serio Lauzze. On January 23, 1950 in Wellsville he married Paula Vossler who predeceased him in December of 2004.

Larry graduated from Wellsville High School in 1936. He worked for the family business, the Candy Kitchen, and attended an electrical trade school. In 1940 he enlisted in the US Navy. Larry spent WWII on various sub tenders as an electricians mate in the Atlantic Ocean and off of the Aleutian Islands. After the war Larry worked for a short time in New York City repairing elevators. Upon returning to Wellsville he began work as electrician for Air Preheater and later retired from Dresser Rand in the early 1980's. Larry learned to play the piano at an early age and enjoyed playing while visiting the nursing homes with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Whenever possible Larry attended Masses said in Latin and he enjoyed socializing at the local service clubs.

His memberships include: The Immaculate Conception Church, Saint Vincent DePaul Society, Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion, Elks and Moose all of Wellsville.

Survivors include: A son Paul (Shallee) Lauzze of Whitesville; a daughter, Valerie (Fred) Woodward of Clifton Park; 2 grandsons, Joseph and Nicholas Lauzze; several nieces and nephews.

Larry was predeceased by 2 brothers, Ralph and Anthony Lauzze; a sister, Mary Rose Seeley

Friends are invited to call on Sunday, October 2, 2011, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. A Prayer service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday at 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am at the Immaculate Conception Church with Father Sean DiMaria as the celebrant. Burial with full military honors will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception School Memorial Fund, 6 Maple Ave., Wellsville, NY. 14895.
