James F. Carlin

Wellsville, NY - James F. Carlin, 76, of 2398 Stannards Road died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. He was born May 17, 1935 in Wellsville, the son of the late Bernard and Mable (Sortore) Carlin. On June 11, 1955 in Wellsville he married Carole Hazzard who survives.

Jim was a graduate of Wellsville High School. He was employed at C. E. Air Preheater Company in Wellsville for 43 years, retiring in 1998. He was an active member of the Wellsville Community; serving as an Eucharistic Minister for the Immaculate Conception Church, Deputy Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus Council # 919, member of the Olean Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, member of the Mercy Associates, a member of the Immaculate Conception Community Fun Fair Committee and a life member of the Genesee Hose Company # 5.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, David (Rosealina) Carlin of Las Vegas, NV and Timothy (Judy) Carlin of Wellsville, two daughters, Cynthia Carlin and Kathleen (C.J.) Rahr both of Wellsville, 11 grandchildren, two brothers, Thomas Carlin of Scio and William Carlin of Wellsville as well as several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Brian G. Carlin on July 3, 2000.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday, September 25th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 and 9:00 pm and Monday from 10:00 to 10:30 am at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The Rosary will be recited Sunday at 3:45 pm in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 am in the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville with Rev. Thomas Roman as Celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception School.
