Howard C. Dunshie

Allegany, NY - Howard C. Dunshie of 67 North Third Street passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the Cuba Memorial Hospital. He was born in Olean on September 27, 1919 to Jesse M. and Tillie Terrette Dunshie. In December of 1940 married he married Althea Leila Witter who predeceased him in May of 1988. In January of 1989 he married Ailene Dickerson who predeceased him in April of 2010.

Howard was a former resident of Pikeville and Friendship who later moved to Allegany. He served in the US Navy during WWII in the amphibious forces in the Pacific Theater. Howard went to work for Bradley Producers in the local oil fields and retired from Butler Larkin. He enjoyed wood working up until last year. In his younger days Howard played baseball and he later enjoyed watching it. He also enjoyed country rides, eating out and spending time with family and friends. Howard will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his independence, his pride and above all that he was a gentleman.

Survivors include: 3 sons, Howard E. "Gene" Dunshie of Pigeon Forge, TN., David (Kat) Dickerson of Olive Branch, MS., and Tom (Glenda) Dickerson of Alma; 3 daughters, Gayle (Sam) Speta of Friendship, Judy (Bill) Capozzi of Allegany and Ann (Steve) Butts of Cincinnati, OH.; several grand and great grand children; 2 sisters, Pauline Green of Bolivar and Itha Poeltl of North Tonawanda; 2 brothers, Frederic (Eleanor) Dunshie of Concordia, KS., and Kenneth Dunshie of Warren, PA., as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by: a sister, Lois Halleck; 3 brothers, Frank, John and Russell Dunshie

Friends are invited to call on Monday, March 21, 2011, from 12 noon to 2 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, 34 West State Street in Wellsville. His funeral service will take place at 2 pm following visitation in the funeral home with Rev. Clara Wilder presiding.   1. Tom-Again I send condolences to you for a death in your family. Howard is now with your Mom and son in Heaven. My brother, Ray (the youngest), remember him? He passed away September 22 from pancreatic cancer. Very difficult.......My continuing thoughts and love, Marti
