Norma M. Newland

Wellsville, NY - Norma M. Newland of 65 O'Connor Street; her faith became sight on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She was born in Wellsville on October 14,1928 to Norman and Mary Stevens Mallery. On September 17, 1949 in Wellsville she married Donald Newland who survives.

Norma graduated from Wellsville High School and along with her husband operated Mallery TV on the Bolivar Road. She loved music, family and friends and especially board games. Norma was a Literacy Volunteer of Allegany County and also a volunteer for hospice. She had great faith and was a long time active member of the Christian Temple Church in Wellsville.

Surviving besides her husband: a son Guy (Cheryll) Newland of Beaver Creek, OH.; 3 daughters, Jan (John) Pratt of Wellsville, Carrie (Larry Peacock) Whitwood of Wellsville and Andrea (Mathew Mumper) of Portville ; a son in law Brian Thomas of Annapolis, MD.; 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Mallery of Belmont as well as several nieces and nephews.

Norma was predeceased by a daughter, Leslie Thomas; 3 brothers, Malcolm, William and Lawrence Mallery and a sister, Margaret DeLang.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 26, 2011, from 12 noon to 1pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, 34 West State Street in Wellsville. Her funeral service will take place at 1 pm in the funeral home with Ralph Eastlack presiding. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Leslie Newland Thomas Memorial Scholarship, 126 West State Street, Wellsville, New York 14895.   1. Hello Newland Family, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. There really aren't any words that will heal your pain. I guess find comfort that the pain will ease with time but your wonderful memories of her won't. I have a nice memory of her myself and that's of her always doing crossword puzzles :)

  2. Dear Newland Family,
    I am so sorry to here about Norma. My heart goes out to the whole family during this time of sadness. I remember Norma to be a very quiet person and very kind. My favorite memory of her was playing "Skip-Bo" or "Uno" with Donald and Andrea. My thoughts and prayers go out to the whole family.
