Terry L. Lehman

Wellsville, NY - Terry L. Lehman, 67, of 4005 Niles Hill Road died on Friday, February 27, 2009 at Jones Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 17, 1941 in Wellsville the son of the late William and Lena (Strong) Lehman. On June 16, 1962 in Wellsville he married Arlene Childress who survives.

Terry was first employed as the Charlie Chips driver and later by the Alfred State College, Vocational School in Wellsville, for 34 years. He retired from Alfred on June 29, 1998. He then worked for his son Shawn’s business; Lehman’s Lawn care and Landscaping. He was a life member of the Dyke Street Engine Company # 2 and was a member of the Elks Lodge # 1495 in Wellsville. He enjoyed hunting at the Pondarosa and riding through the hills of Allegany County.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four children; Cherise Lehman of Wellsville, Rhonda (David) Lorshbaugh of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Lu Ann (Tim) Dixon and Shawn Lehman both of Wellsville, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, four brothers, William (Dorisann) Lehman and Edward Lehman both of Belmont, Robert J. (Winifred) Lehman and Donald Lehman both of Wellsville and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Keifer.

Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will be Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Ralph Eastlack presiding. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial suggestions include the ALS Association or the Dyke Street Engine Company # 2.

Mary Helen Lehman

Belmont, NY - Mary Helen Lehman, 76, of 5079 State Route 244 died on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at her home. She was born March 8, 1932 in Angelica the daughter of Watkins and Leola (Washburn) James. On March 22, 1952 in Scio she married Edward B. Lehman who survives.

Mary Helen was raised in Belmont and was a 1950 graduate of Belmont High School. She was employed as a school bus driver for the Belmont Central School System for 37 years retiring in 1994. She was an active member of the Belmont First Baptist Church; where she taught Sunday school and served as a deaconess. She was a lunch monitor for the Belmont Christian Academy, she delivered Meals on Wheels for the Allegany County Office for the Aging from 1995 to 2000, she was a former member of the Amity Rescue Squad and was an avid bowler at Community Lanes in Belmont.

“Aunt Mic” as she was affectionately referred to by her nieces and nephews was not only a loving wife, mother and grandmother but was like a mother to many young people in need who she invited to stay in her home. She will also be missed by her large extended family and many friends.

Surviving in addition to husband are, six children, James (Shirley) Lehman of Ashland, Ohio, Leo “Jon” (Judy) Lehman of Newburn, NC, Jeffery Lehman and Julie Lehman both of Belmont, Jane (Bryan) Baker of Nova, Ohio and Jerold “Jerry” (Fran) Lehman of Friendship, 14 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Leo Canfield.

Friends are invited to call from 7-9 pm Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 pm Sunday at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Belmont. The funeral will be Monday, March 2nd at 11:00 am in the Belmont First Baptist Church with Pastors Byron Brooks and Vernon Dean presiding. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery in Belmont. Memorial suggestions include any charity of the donor’s choice.

Jerrold W. “Jerry” Jackson

Wellsville, NY - Jerrold W. “Jerry” Jackson, 66, of 1875 Petrolia Hill Road died on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born March 2, 1942 in Scio the son of Millard and Viola (Sanford) Jackson. On October 27, 1962 in Whitesville he married Sandra Hunt who survives.

Jerry was a 1960 graduate of Wellsville High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1964 serving during the Vietnam and in Cuba, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was employed at Dresser-Rand Corporation in Wellsville from 1964 until he retired in 1987 due to ill health. He was a life member of the Allentown Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Allegany County Volunteer Firemen’s Association, the Morrison Hayes Post 702 American Legion, the Wellsville Moose Lodge # 601, the Moose Legion, the Whitesville Rod & Gun Club, the NRA, the Yorks Corners Mennonite Church and the Serenity Hills Golf Course in Friendship. He was a former member of the Alma Town Board and is a current member of the Town of Alma Assessment Board. He was also a 40 year member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 1580.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Kenneth (Felicia) Jackson of Fairbanks, AK, Mary (David) Saunders of Whitesville and Melissa Blank of Rochester, six grandchildren, Marissa, Jarred, Jaremy and Trent Jackson and Phillip and Danielle Saunders, one great grandson, Blake Kitchens, one brother, Howard (Ginny) Jackson of Wellsville, two sisters, Martha Hall of Arcadia, FL and Claudia (Harold Rifenburg) Ackley of Andover, a brother-in-law, Ronald Morrison of Scio, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Jackson of Wellsville, a special aunt Maxine Jackson of Wellsville, several nieces and nephews, special friends, Basil and Dennis Shutt of Wellsville and his K9 sidekick and companion, Nugget. He was predeceased by three brothers, Royce, Millard Jr. and Alan Jackson and two sisters, Carol Clayson and Barbara Morrison.

The funeral will be Saturday, February 28th at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with Dale Beebee presiding. Burial with military honors will follow in York Corners Cemetery. Jerry “Jake” Dean Lewis

Wellsville - Jerry “Jake” Dean Lewis, 62, of Wellsville died unexpectedly at home Thursday, February 19, 2009. He was born at home on April 27, 1946 in Little Genesee to Neuire and Edna Marsh Lewis. On September 7, 1968 in Coryville, PA. he married Lynda Moses who survives.

As a youth Jerry was known as a fast runner and a rascal. He enjoyed being outdoors and living in Texas. He attended Whitesville Central School and graduated from Bolivar Central High School in 1965. Jerry enlisted in the US Marine Corps and later received a medical discharge. He then resided in Shinglehouse, PA., while working at Aerovox and Olean Tile Company he was in partnership on a farm with two of his brothers. Jerry was a man who spent his life living out his dedication to dairy farming and in 1974 he moved to Marshfield, MO. to operate his own dairy farm. In 1981 Jerry and his family moved to the Wellsville Area to continue dairy farming. He retired from farming in 2001 and at which time he went to work for Kar-dale Acers Farm.

Jerry attended the Yorks Corners Mennonite Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Washington Redskins, singing, playing horseshoes and cards and attending fairs. Jerry loved
spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving besides his wife are his children; Dwayne[Angela] Lewis of Belmont, Loretta[John] Seidel of Willcox, AZ., Lynnette Lewis of Wellsville, Craig[ Kate] Lewis of Springville and Wesley[Nina] Lewis of Allentown; nine grandchildren; 1 brother, Art[Karen]Lewis; 5 sisters, Norma Kellogg, Katherine[Jim]Webster, Sherri[Jim] Leonard, Beverly Morris and Cindy[Fred]Unverdorben; several nieces, nephews and extended family

Jerry was predeceased by a sister Susie Lewis; 4 brothers, William, Russ, Neuire and Steve Lewis

Friends are invited to call on Friday February 27 from 2- 3 pm at the Yorks Corners Mennonite Church at which time a memorial service will be held at 3 pm in the church. Memorials may be made to the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps or to the Chenunda Creek Fellowship Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home.

Eleanor Q. Coleman

Belmont - Eleanor Q. Coleman of the Hood Road passed away on Saturday February 7, 2009 at Strong Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 31, 1919 in Wellsville to Arthur and Lillian [Norton] Quinn. On June 30, 1941 in St. Mary’s Church in Belmont she married Raymond Coleman who predeceased her on November 3. 1998.

Eleanor earner a B.S. [Library Science] in 1940 and a M.S. [Elementary Education] in 1958 from SUNY Geneseo. She taught first grade for 25 years in the Wellsville School System and loved her students dearly. Eleanor was member of St. Mary’s Parish in Belmont for over 60 years. She was an active church member and served as treasurer of the Alter Society. Eleanor was also a volunteer for the Allegany County Blind Association.

Survivors include: a daughter Nancy[Richard]Staley of Pittsford; a son in law Ron Hirschler of Fairport; 4 grandchildren, Robert[Alicia]Hudson, Stephen[Kathy]Hirschler, Chris[Isabel]Hirschler and Lisa Hudson; a great granddaughter Hope Hudson. A brother George [Kathy] Quinn of Winnabow, NC. and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Raymond, a daughter Barbara Coleman Hirschler, a brother Robert Quinn and a sister Leola Cline

There will be no prior visitation and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Thursday February 12 at 11 am in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Belmont. Father Jerome Dissek is the celebrant and burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorials in Eleanor’s name may be made to either the Office for the Aging or to the Amity Rescue Squad. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Belmont.

John J. Biancuzzo

Belmont, NY - John J. Biancuzzo, 70, of 8 Trianna Street died on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Rochester General Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born on March 21, 1938 in Belmont, the only son of the late Carlo and Violet (Lewis) Biancuzzo. On June 4, 1960 he married Andrea Stephens who predeceased him on July 17, 1976. On September 9, 1989 he married Deborah Lowe who survives.

John was employed by the Rochester Button Company in Wellsville for many years and later was a rural mail carrier in Belmont. He formerly served as Justice of the Peace for the village of Belmont and was a member of the former St. Mary’s Parish in Belmont. He was a life member and past fire chief for the Belmont Volunteer Fire Department, where he also held many line officer positions.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Stephen (Lynn) Biancuzzo of Belmont, Catherine (K. J.) Spinks of Belmont, Daniel Biancuzzo of Charleston, SC and Andrew (Adriane) Biancuzzo of Portville, four sisters, Roseanna Tait, Theresa, Josephine and Felecia Biancuzzo all of Belmont, four brother-in-laws Andrew Stephens and Gary Stephens and Steve Lowe all of Belmont and David Lowe of Boston, MA. The joys of his life were his grandchildren, Toby and Josh Spinks, Andrea, Alyssa and Vinny Biancuzzo. He also loved his bird “Whisper” and his dog “Little Bit”.

David Wayne Woodruff

Scio, NY - David Wayne Woodruff, 38, of 4056 State Route 19 died on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following a brief illness; with his wife and family at his side. He was born January 20, 1971 in Olean the son of Wayne and Donna (Doner) Woodruff. On December 24, 1998 in Wellsville he married Stacie D. Geyer who survives.

Dave was raised in Hinsdale and Wellsville and was a 1990 graduate of Wellsville High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and had served in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm; where he earned an Outstanding Unit Award and the National Defense Service Medal. He was formerly employed at Bradley Supply in Hornell and was currently a machinist at Alstom Power Air Preheater Company in Wellsville. He was a member of the Elks Lodge # 1495, a former member of the Moose Lodge # 601 and was an assistant coach for the Alstom T-ball team. He had an intense love for knowledge of music and had recently formed and was the lead singer for the band “Dirty Red”. He would also occasionally sing for the band “Roundhouse Kick”. He was a devoted Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan and was a loving and dedicated husband, father and friend. His smile, contagious since of humor and quick wit would light up any room.

Surviving in addition to his wife Stacie, is a step son, Tyler Green at home, 2 sons, Tristen and Trace Woodruff both at home, his mother, Donna Woodruff of Advance, NC, 3 siblings, Mark (Dawn) Woodruff of Cuba, Cindy (Paul) Wyant and Craig (Robin) Woodruff both of Advance, NC as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Wayne Woodruff.

The funeral will be Tuesday, February 3rd at 11:00 am in the Scio Church of Christ with Minister in Charge, Glen Layfield presiding.
